As funny as it was, I fixed the entry because it was -- ultimately -- smart assy.

"STARE AT A WORD for long enough, and it can begin to look unfamiliar. This is an example of jamais vu (never seen), the opposite of déjà vu. Chris Moulin, of Leeds University, asked 92 volunteers to write out “door” 30 times in 60 seconds. At the International Conference on Memory in Sydney last week he reported that 68 per cent of his guinea pigs showed symptoms of jamais vu, such as beginning to doubt that “door” was a real word. Dr Moulin believes that a similar brain fatigue underlies a phenomenon observed in some schizophrenia patients: that a familiar person has been replaced by an impostor. Dr Moulin suggests they could be suffering from chronic jamais vu."

Body Balance

I kinda like that…R55A.

That belt-buckle thing was a happy accident. It looks a bit small in scale to the rest of the robot so I’ll fix that up later when I finish the rest of the body. I have the arms, legs, cockpit, backpack and accessories left to model. After that I’ll crank out texture maps and make a “battle damage” version with Mudbox!

New Robot

So, I can’t change my idea. What does that mean? Change the robot!

I wasn’t feeling so proud of my past robots, so I started from scratch. I never really made a design that I was very proud with, but I feel very happy about this one. I feel inspired again :)

He’s a very simple design, but will be very versatile:

Improved Experience
The cockpit is now placed in the head, improving visibility and depth perception for the pilot.

Faster Than Ever
The streamlined body allows improved mobility and dexterity compared to past robots.

The Iron Giant
Joints are protected by an new alloy mesh that is fireproof, waterproof and of course virtually unbreakable.

Improved Accessibility
Fire retardant and water “guns” on each arm can be folded to the side for improved accessibility, requiring no switching of arms for use of the standard hands.

Get Anywhere Fast
Wheels are located under each foot to allow the robot to traverse far distances in a heartbeat. Optional, detachable rocket backpack can allow flight for crowded street areas, harsh terrain or other situations that disallow wheel-based travel.

Explore the Universe
Space entry capable, is well suited for carrying out maintenance repairs in zero-gravity environments. Robot is completely sealed and pressurized, allowing deep-space exploration.

Earth Friendly
Power is provided by new solar panel technology with an efficiency rating that is close to 90%, allowing very rapid power generation and charging of its backup battery system.
